Cloudy Hill by sidneyeileen Cloudy Hill by sidneyeileen
9"x12", oil paint on canvas board
4 layers of paint
Reference: Photo provided by my instructor, David Lobenberg

Another class project.

Added the foliage to the trees. I picked up a stippling brush today, and dabbed on the color.

I rather enjoyed doing landscape in paint. I always hated doing them in pencil. ;)

Have you thought about trying Golden's "Open" line? It has a longer drying time than normal acrylics - a couple hours if I understand correctly.

I'll have to look for some. Right now I am taking up watercolors. They are the least likely to make me cough up a lung lol

Done! Nice! :D
I was wondering before if there was such a scene where the ground was covered in grass but the trees were bare and blackened. Now it makes a lot more sense =P
It's interesting to see how you did build up the trees, as well as the grassy ground. I could learn from that :P

Really enjoy the brush movement in the clouds, and the subtle hightlights in the trees and grass are so pleasing to the eye!!!! Great piece

I've been silent but I have been wathcing this one to see how you develop it. I love the trees, especially the sun flecks. It's like a little Ray of Hope. (That's not a critisizim, that's just my intretation of this painting.)

Ah well, If I knew any I would :P
I personally prefer the poor life myself, which I know is slightly weird, but I don't want the chance to get ahead of myself monetary wise. That and not having the choice to do a lot with many is slightly liberating in my own views :P

Spectacular Sidney. I love the series of four brilliant white cloudlets in line with the lonely tree.
