This was the first ribbon corset I ever made, back in 2002. It is made from 2" satin ribbon, and only has boning at the sides, around the grommets, and in the busk. It has a VERY long torso (15" busk, underbust), and is made to have a 30" waist when laced. This means it would fit someone with a waist measurement of 30"-36", who was over 6 feet tall, male or female.
The corset is a reproduction Edwardian negligee corset, constructed to imitate all the details described in tailoring books and shown in historic photos. One of the big advantages of this style of corset is its versatility. Unlike other styles of corset, it is very forgiving of differences in body shape, allowing comfortable fit as long as only a couple basic measurements match.
Ugh!! I wish I had the funds to purchase this! The color is lovely, and it'd fit me perfectly too, as I'm 6'1", and I'm slender. This is so beautiful! When I have the money, I'd love to purchase a corset from you x3
*flails* I've never seen anything like this before! This would probably fit me even... I have a long torso and always have trouble when making things XD. I want to make one o.o
This is so gorgeous. I have a vintage ribbon corset, but yours is so clean and sharp looking in contrast. Do you know of any instructions/tutorials for ribbon corsets?
Not yet. I'm in the process of making a fabric-based ribbon corset and am posting the progress to my blog at [link] (the last post is a few deep because I fell behind on my orders and had to set it aside). After it's finished I plan to write up a formal tutorial. I also have on order a spool of ribbon for making another ribbon corset in exactly this style, which I will also be blogging and then posting a tutorial.
