Description

Colored pencil on paper, 5.5"x9"
~20 hours of work
Reference photo: [link]

This is a piece I promised to ~Bishoop last January.
Art is copyright to me
Character is copyright to ~Bishoop

Bishoop changed his nick to Shiro some months back, and silly me, I was labeling the WIPs with his old nick (which he still uses a couple places, like here). Sorry, hon. At least I named the final properly.

Damn it! You know, I thought I was critiquing a photo at first. Can anyone tell me how marvelous it is to glance at a colored pencil work with such stunning detail that it looks like a photograph?!

Okay, calm down Soyaku, the critique hasn't even started yet!

Alright, alright. Shiro by Sidneyeileen is her own take on one other artist's character. This wonderful display into the world of anthro fails not in its delivery or its stunning detail.

I have not seen much anthro art in my lifetime, but this piece certainly grabs me with the immense realism. The shadows accent the Shiro's body perfectly, and the tattoo doesn't seem like an abstract object floating into space. What really takes me by storm about this piece is the jeans and the clothing. It's all so realistic! I feel as if I could shake the wolf's hand and keep on my merry way!

While the background isn't perfect in its realism, the style keeeps it nice and eye catching. The colors are vibrant and fluid, the shading is near perfect, and the wolf... is just sexy!!!!!

Honestly, through my uneducated opinion, I see nothing wrong with this exquisite piece of artwork. I hope this artist knows that her 20 hours of work are certainly displayed perfectly here.

Best Regards, Soyaku Jinjashi
