8"x10" graphite pencil on smooth paper.
Roughly 40 hours of work.
Photo reference used.

This is a portfolio piece only. I will not be making any prints of this drawing. I seriously debated whether or not to even post it, because I have no idea where I got the photo I referenced for this drawing. However, I was too happy with the result to not share it.

EDIT: Two wonderful people tracked down wallpaper sites where the original photo can be found.

EDIT: *EatToast tracked down the photographer! Rachel Hale was the mystery photographer whos work I referenced for this piece.

its too bad you can't remember the photo reference..I think it would make a lovely print.

I think it would make a lovely print too. That's why I made a point of stating that there wouldn't be one, because I would hate to cause trouble stepping on the photographer's toes. Before I decided to take another stab at making money on my art, I downloaded a lot of really neat pictures online to use as reference, and the reference for this was one of them. It really is a beautiful photo, and looks like it was taken professionally, save for the lack of an identifying watermark. I really wish it had one so I could track down the source.

I know that feeling about not wanting to get into trouble with a photographer. I can understand it completely with this illustration especially since it looks like it could be dead to rights accurate in all ways. Never know maybe someone looking through DA will say HEY I know where it came from.
