Oil paint on canvas board Diptych, 2 5"x7" canvas boards Three sessions Reference: photo of Yasha, an Italian greyhound
This is a gift for a friend who moved away. Yasha is a beloved little dog she had for years. To make the painting I am referencing a photo taken when Yasha was just a couple years old. Most of the elements in the painting exist in the photo, but I have re-arranged them to create a more pleasing composition.
For the last layer, I added the tree branch shadows showing through the window, and the plant in the pot on the left. I used black paint with a very high quantity of medium so the black would be translucent, and varied the quantity of pigment to create the darker and lighter areas.
I like your diptych, you have a good job on bass, although I q the passage of light to dark should be a little, just a little softer, but this great, I like the backlight
