How I Pick Features~
passionfruit07 asked me how I pick my features, and I thought that was something other people might be wondering too, so I decided to just include it in my journal.
It's blindingly simple, actually. I keep a text file open on my computer which contains nothing but thumbnail links. As I browse dA and fave stuff (I fave a LOT of stuff), I add the thumbnails of things that I think are really great and particularly worth sharing. I don't worry about how many faves the deviation has, or how popular the deviant is, just how good I think the image is. I try not to include more than two deviations from a single person in one journal, but sometimes I even break that guideline if I think a number of deviations are spectacular.
This method means that those I watch will tend to re-occur the most frequently in my features, but I don't think that's a bad thing. I also find faves and features through club submissions, browsing Collections, other peoples' feature journals, and browsing/searching dA in general.
The deviations coming up for feature now have been on my list for about two months. I always check to make sure all the thumbs still lead to existing deviations before I post the journal, because there are usually at least a couple that have been deleted in the interim. In an ideal world, I would be caught up on the features, and on my watch deviations, and on my journals, but this isn't an ideal world, and I haven't had the time to catch up since last summer. At least I'm not loosing ground anymore....

All of the features are great, and I particularly love the picture of the barn owl you have featured.
